Time Flies!

So for the first time in a while (at least a couple moves ago) I feel stretched pretty thin! So here's what's been taking up our time lately I may or may not get to the family reunion recap--the pictures are on facebook if you want to see them, and if you're not on facebook, tell me and I'll send you a link! :)

*We've been spending time with old friends. A family friend of the Schweitz's made us dinner at her GORGEOUS house up in North Atlanta. We had such a fun time! That's the second time we've gotten to see her since we moved here, hopefully we can make it a monthly occurrence! I haven't eaten such a schmancy meal in a long time! She's so great, and she's agreed to speak at PWOC this year!! I can't wait to share her with all my PWOC ladies! I also went to hang out with a girl I went on Summer Project with 6 years ago. She has a two year old and we had a very fun day at a park in Marietta!

*PWOC- I took on a board position this year, I am technically the Second Vice President of Programs. Which means, I plan the programs. We have three each semester, and this year is a little different than normal so it's adding a little more work. Since the Ft McPherson and Ft Gillem are closing, (all Chapel activities for both bases happen at Ft.MCPhereson) we have to use an extra extra small budget, deal with A LOT of tough and intense emotions.
Some ladies are getting laid off in the close, some do have the opportunities to move where the unit they work for will be reassigned but if they don't want to, they lose their jobs.
Or for those who are married to retired military who will no longer have any where to go in the Atlanta area for military stuff (Army medical clinics, commissarys, PX, Chapel services, etc) so they are faced with finding new friends, new doctors, new churches, and paying more for groceries and house hold items...stressful!
Still others are getting relocated to places still unknown to them.
Soooo needless to say there is a lot of change coming, and even though it's been common knowledge since 2005 that these bases are closing, the time is coming closer so it's pretty hard for a large number of people.

All that to say, the programs this year have to take a lot of special considerations. So I've been spending MANY MANY hours trying to plan ahead, have purchase requests ready for as many programs as possible....decoration, food, speakers...etc. Yikes! We've have our board retreat, which was super fun. A few board meetings, and of course PWOC meetings every Thursday. All on McPherson which, in perfect Atlanta traffic is 35 minutes away.

*We are getting involved at our new Church. Community Bible Church. We love it! Our small group is great, we may be facilitating a parenting class small group on Sunday nights this fall, and Josh is looking to maybe coordinate a 5K/10K outreach at the church! :)We've also enjoyed making new friends and having supper with a couple new families!

*Josh joined a running club! He runs with an FCA Runners Club on every other Tuesday night. Intervals, at the local high school track. Renae and I like to go with and walk laps...she likes watching people fly past her. :)

*We have a house who's outside requires a lot of attention! Lots of landscaping and a big yard. It takes us about 90 minutes to mow, and since it's blistering during the day we try to split it so we don't completely dehydrate sweating so bad. ha ha We also have a lot of bushes/shrubs/small trees that need a lot of maintenance. So that has taken up a significant amount of our weekend time. But it looks nice and is rewarding!

*We also had an ant invasion last week- we had a mild issue with them for the month before we went on vacation, but when we came back it was BAD! 6 outdoor traps, 4 indoor, and some liquid poison traps later...hopefully taken care of.

*And of course, Renae! We love spending time with her and taking her for walks. This girl really likes her stroller!

Mmmm

We found a food Renae doesn't like. Avacado. I made her eat about 1/2 of one before I figured I tortured her enough. ha ha.
