2017-2018

Well, it's been a few months shy of a YEAR!! *Insert emoji with really wide eyes* I can't guarantee it'll get any better! HAHA!

This school year has been a ride, that's for sure. The kids are in the exhilarating roller-coaster hands up position while I'm simultaneously in survival mode...treading water and barely staying afloat!

New this year:
Adding a 3rd student! Noah is a very willing and an extremely eager participant. I am hoping he continues this, it's fun to watch and help him learn!

We are studying American History, 24 weeks of History Topics and we have been able to GO SEE things we are studying every week! The glory of living in DC!! Here's where we've been:

The American History Museum
Fort Willard Park/Historical Site
National Archives
Mt. Vernon
Fort McHenry
Shenandoah National Park
National Mall- Lincoln Memorial (WW2, Vietnam War Memorial, Korean War Memorial)
National Portrait Gallery (Hall of Presidents, Native American History Art)
Fredericksburg Battlefield
Chancellorsville Battlefield
Appomattox Courthouse
Ford's Theater
National Building Museum
National Gallery of Art
German American Heritage Museum (Immigration)
U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing
The U.S.S North Carolina
Colonial Williamsburg
Mt. Vernon again
The President's Own Marine Orchestra Rehearsal

We've even had two top secret field trips!! Like opportunities of a lifetime field trips. We've got more Civil War sites, NSA Cryptology Museum, Monticello, Montpelier, NRA Museum, The Pentagon/Pentagon Memorial, and the Bible Museum, National African American History Museum, the Library of Congress, Supreme Court and a few others coming up on the list as well!!

What a privilege to live and home school here- we are so very close to so much really neat history! Truly, we love it. Taking one day every week to SEE our history is well worth cramming everything else into 3 days (We do a co-op one day a week for those of you who are wondering if I can count to 5 ;) ).

Crazy enough, we only have 7 weeks of school left til summer! We keep doing a few things year around but I kind of can't believe we might actually make it! HA!
